THE ART OF EMBRACING TALENTS.

The 2024 Paris Olympics is a glimpse of hope that Zimbabwean Sports can be revived. We have been represented well by the Zimbabwean Olympics Team. They all showed us that against all odds we can chill with the big boys.

Allow me to introduce the above two Zimbabwean youths in the photo that have managed to raise the Zimbabwe's flag up high. They are the definition of hard work and also the resurrection of Zimbabwean sports. As a student who was once into athletics and participated in High school sports competitions, I'm proud to say that what I have seen and experienced, I hope our Ministry of Sports would venture into it and see how the youth can put our name back at the top.

What I have noticed at high ranked schools in Zimbabwe, they focus on embracing the student's talent. They find one's strength and weaknesses and use that, so that the child is able to embrace who they are truly. I used to do throws, Shotput and Discus, however, I had to stop participating after 2018 school competitions because I would see that the way my competitors were trained, it was no funny business. I learnt at a public school, all they put first were sports like Rugby, Basketball, Handball and Soccer. The rest we had to put extra work in education, our sports meant nothing to school authorities, we were not trained by professional coaches like the special sports. We would be trained by mere teachers. This killed our sports sector.

It's time for the Zimbabwean sports sector to be represented well. They should help the younger generation put Zimbabwe on the map. We have seen what Zimbabwe is capable of, why not embrace the future by having more Zimbabwean names being recognized by the world for their mastery in sports.

The  Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation   must learn the art of embracing talents.
